Have questions? Here you’ll find everything about EUROCARS car rental in Crete. Book your vehicle with confidence

1. Do i need a credit card to rent a car in Crete ?

No, at Eurocars car rental, credit card is not required to hire a car.

2. Do I have to pay a Security Deposit when renting a car in Crete with Eurocars ?

No, at Eurocars you can rent a car in Crete without deposit. We do not block / hold any funds on pickup. The price you see on our website is the final one.

3. What is the Insurance Coverage at Eurocars ?

At Eurocars, we keep things simple and stress-free. We offer only one type of insurance — Full Damage Waiver (FDW) — which is always included in our rental rates. This coverage reduces the excess fee to 0€, meaning you won’t pay anything in case the rental car is damaged.

Additionally, we make the rental process quick and hassle-free — no inspections, photos, or videos are required at pickup or return. Just pick up your car and start your journey with complete peace of mind.

4. What is the Excess Fee when renting a car in Crete with Eurocars?

Excess fee (also known as a deductible) is the maximum amount of money a renter would have to pay in case the rental car is damaged or stolen.

At Eurocars Car Rental in Crete, you don’t have to worry about this or any other hidden charges or surprises. We provide Full Damage Waiver insurance with 0€ excess fee, meaning you’re fully covered with no financial liability in case of an accident or damage. Complete peace of mind, always included in your rental price when renting a car in Crete with us.

5. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) vs Full Damage Waiver (FDW) Insurance

Collision Damage Waiver Insurance (CDW) is a type of insurance that covers some damage to the rental car in case of an accident. However, it usually comes with an excess fee (often up to €1,000) that the renter must pay if any damage occurs.

Full Damage Waiver Insurance (FDW), on the other hand, provides complete protection with 0€ excess fee, meaning the renter has no financial responsibility for damage or accidents.

Most car rental companies in Crete include only the CDW with excess fee in their basic rates and charge a high daily supplement if you want to upgrade to FDW with 0€ excess.

At Eurocars Car Rental in Crete, we do things differently. Full Damage Waiver with 0€ excess fee is always included in our rental price — giving you total peace of mind and no hidden costs.

6. What is NOT covered by the FDW Insurance ?

While our Full Damage Waiver insurance provides complete protection with 0€ excess fee, there are a few cases where coverage does not apply.

The insurance does not cover:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

• Extreme off-road use or driving on unsuitable roads

• Loss or damage of the car keys

• Wrong fuel usage

• Traffic fines or violations

In all other cases, you’re fully covered — no excess and no hidden costs.

7. Are there any other costs or fees that i have to pay on pickup ?

No, there are no extra costs or hidden fees to pay when you pick up your rental car. The price you see on our website is final and already includes all taxes, insurance, and fees.

At Eurocars Car Rental in Crete, we believe in transparent pricing — what you see is exactly what you pay.

8. What is the minimum age to rent a car in Crete by Eurocars

The minimum age to rent a car in Crete with Eurocars is 23 years old, and the driver must hold a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.

9. What documents do i need to rent a car in Crete ?

To rent a car in Crete with Eurocars, you will need:

• A valid driver’s license (held for at least 3 years)
• A passport (for non EU residents) or ID card (for EU residents)

Please make sure that all documents are original and valid throughout the rental period.

10. Do i need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to rent a car in Crete ?

The driving license requirements in Greece depend on the country that issued your license:

EU & EEA countries → You do not need an International Driver’s License. Your national license is fully valid in Greece.

United States → A U.S. driver’s license is valid in Greece, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is not required.

Canada → A Canadian driver’s license is valid in Greece, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is not required.

Australia → An Australian driver’s license is valid in Greece, and an International Driving Permit IDP is not required.

Other countries → If your country is not part of the Vienna Convention, you must have both your national driver’s license and an International Driving Permit (IDP).

11. Do I need Full Damage Waiver (FDW) insurance if I already have my own insurance?

You might already have your own travel or credit card insurance that covers rental cars. However, this usually means that in case of an accident or damage, you must first pay the excess amount to the car rental company and then claim reimbursement from your insurance provider afterward.

In practice, this can be a slow and complicated process, as insurance companies often look for reasons in the fine print to delay or refuse payment.

That’s why we always recommend choosing a rental car with Full Damage Waiver (FDW) insurance with 0€ excess fee for total peace of mind. It might cost slightly more than a basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with an excess, but it’s well worth it — there’s no amount blocked on your card and no financial risk in case of damage.

At Eurocars Car Rental in Crete, FDW with 0€ excess fee is always included in our rental rates — so you’re already fully covered, with no stress and no hidden costs.

12. Can I drive everywhere in Crete with my rental car?

The rental agreement and the Full Damage Waiver insurance cover the driver only when driving on normal paved roads.

Driving on unpaved, rough, or dirt roads is not allowed, as there is no insurance coverage in case of an accident or damage to the vehicle.

To stay fully protected and avoid any issues, please drive only on asphalted public roads during your rental.

13. Can I take the rental car outside of Crete?

No — Eurocars vehicles cannot be driven or transported outside of Crete.

All Eurocars cars are equipped with GPS tracking, and any attempt to remove the vehicle from the island will result in the immediate termination of the rental agreement.

Moreover, if a car is shipped or transported outside of Crete, the Full Damage Waiver insurance becomes invalid, and the driver is fully responsible (100%) for any damage, loss, or costs that may occur. In such cases, the renter will also be charged for the transportation costs required to return the vehicle to the Eurocars service station in Crete.

This policy ensures compliance with insurance regulations and protects both the renter and Eurocars from unnecessary risks.

18. What should I do if I have an accident?

In case of an accident with your rental car in Crete, please contact Eurocars immediately. Our team will guide you through the next steps.

You must:

• Stay at the scene and wait for the police and the insurance representative to arrive and complete the official report.

• Take note of the license plate number of the other vehicle involved.

• Do not leave the scene without notifying Eurocars — otherwise, you will be held responsible for any damage to the rental car.

If your rental car cannot be driven and requires towing, road assistance will transport the vehicle only, not the passengers. You will be responsible for your own transportation costs (e.g. taxi) back to your hotel or destination, as road assistance services no longer transport guests following COVID-19 restrictions.

We’re always available to assist and guide you through the process to ensure you can continue your trip safely and without delay.

20. What is the fuel policy?

The standard fuel policy at Eurocars Car Rental in Crete is “return as collected” — you return the rental car with the same amount of fuel as when it was collected.

Alternatively, you can choose our Tank Filling Service for an additional cost, which allows you to receive the car with a full tank and return it empty. This is a convenient option, especially for late-night arrivals, at Chania or Heraklion Airport when gas stations may be closed or difficult to find.
