The Cave of Melidoni, in Rethymno Crete, is place of extreme natural beauty, well known for the tragic role it played in the Cretan revolution against the Turks in 1824.
Melidoni Cave was inhabited since the Late Neolithic Era and evidence shows that it has been used both as a residence and place of religion & worship.
Many artifacts, tools and various other archaeological findings were discovered in the Cave of Melidoni, some of which are exhibited in the Archaeological museum of Rethymno.
